Bernard Langer won the Senior Open Championship Sunday at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in Bridgend Wales with a four under total of 280. Bernard shot a one over par 72 and won by 3 shots. His lead was down to two for most of the round but it never felt like he was in danger of losing the tournament. He always seemed to get up and down or make the putt he needed. The final round was held in high winds and rain which was the perfect situation for someone to catch Langer but he was in total control.
Some of Langer’s Champions Tour statistics: 200 events, 33 wins including 10 Majors, 27 Runner-ups, 143 Top-10s, $23M in official money. He was a really good player on the PGA and European Tour but nothing like what he has accomplished on the Champions tour. Truly a remarkable career.
Tomorrow: Due to a ruling at the RBC Canadian Open, I will be discussing the Immovable Obstruction Golf Rule.
