Justin Thomas shot 63/66 this weekend and won the Dell Technologies Championship by 3 shots. Jordan Spieth actually had the lead after hole 11 before falling back with a two closing bogies. This was Justin’s fifth victory of the season including the PGA Championship and makes him the frontrunner for the PGA player of the year with only two tournaments remaining. Just to put this season in perspective, during Phil Mickelson’s stellar career he never won 5 tournaments in a single year.
Only four players have won more than one tournament this year. It is quite unusual to see this many players with at least 3 victories and no players with two victories. It has also been a great year for great showdowns between the top players. Last week it was Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth. Two weeks ago it was Dustin Johnson edging out Jordan Spieth.
- Justin Thomas – 5 wins
- Dustin Johnson – 4 wins
- Jordan Spieth – 4 wins
- Hideki Matsuyama – 3 wins
